I don’t want to jump on the panic wagon but I’m not going to deny that I’m getting increasingly earth-conscience. Who isn’t? One thing that’s been on my mind recently is trading in my petrol-guzzling-rust-bucket – aka my car – for an electric vehicle. EVs are the way forward, literally. But before making the leap to electric, I’ve found myself asking questions like: Where can I charge my EV? How do I pay for the charge? Doing some basic searches helped me find Bonnet. Their site makes the charging process, costs and payments simple enough for even the most naïve newbie to understand. And what’s more, you get £15 off your first refill payment if you use the Bonnet referral code: RVDYM.
Bonnet are a new company with big ambitions and are already expanding at an impressive rate. They’ve got super-cool green goals and one of those is to make sustainable transport available to everyone. This means that instead of needing a private driveway to fit a charging point, their customers are linked with a growing network of charging points around Britain and Europe. I’m not going to lie, when I checked their massive charging network I immediately started to plan my next road trip.
The good news for those of us considering buying or renting an EV, is that the Bonnet app makes the charging experience so much easier. On one app they combine access to thousands of chargers (I’ve got 34 near me) and a super easy in-app payment for your electric. So you’re not only saving the planet but your wallet is taking less of a hit too. Win, win! And if you’re concerned about the app crashing, the Bonnet team assure us that their app is ‘more reliable than your ex’ – Bonnet, I hope so! But what’s not to love about a team that injects a bit of humour into their brand?
Like me, you might be worrying that the whole app ‘thing’ is going to be really complicated. But we can relax. Bonnet takes that anxiety away. They’ve designed the app to reduce ‘range anxiety’ that stops many liquid-fuel car owners from making the EV switch. Let’s talk tech a minute. Bonnet have made the process of installing their app fool-proof. It’s literally a four step process.
Let me spell it out:
01 – download the app and register
02 – securely add your cash card details
03 – choose your package (monthly or pay-as-you-go)
04 – use the interactive map to find your local charging point
Could it be any easier? And what’s more, if you do get stuck the Bonnet team not only provide 24/7 live updates for each charger on the app, they also provide live support and help. No more wasted trips driving around petrol stations to find a diesel pump that works, no more rolling up to an EV point that’s broken – Bonnet’s live updates mean you know which charge point is available and serviceable. If Bonnet can save me that kind of time, they’re going to get my finger pressing download faster than you can say, ‘…and just a small box of Krispy Kremes, please.’ Well, we’ve still got to have some petrol station perks, right?
There’s something else I love about the perky Bonnet team. They’re really responsive to customers’ suggestions. They have a ‘feature request’ function on the site through which customers provide feedback for app development. And you can see the progress of future app updates on their timeline. Now that really is planning for the future.
Right, deep breath, now that Bonnet has my back, I think I’m nearly ready to take the EV plunge. If you’re with me, don’t forget that you get £15 off your first refill payment if you use the code: RVDYM.
Let’s charge up and get moving!
